“ just moved to the area and this was one of the first business i decided to check out. they have great coffee, great staff, and the vibes in the building are immaculate. if i were still in school, this would definitely be a go to study place! ”
“ LOVE this coffee shop. The place is super cute to sit and catch up or do work. The coffee was incredible and my egg and cheese was also incredible. I brought my friends to check it out a week later. Sweet spot. ”
“ I address only vegetarian and vegan options here, so if you are interested in neither, I suggest you skip my review. With the closure in June 2023 of all-vegan Right Path Cafe, downtown New London has lacked an eatery whose vegan foods are not mock meats, or fried, or fried mock meats. (While Spice Palette serves no mock meats and has both all-vegetarian and all-vegan submenus, SP resides in the outskirts of downtown.) Long overlooked by me, I have discovered in Washington Street Coffee House a café in downtown New London suitable for health-minded vegans. More than just a coffee house belied by its name, WSCH offers complete breakfasts and lunches. Of great relevance, its in-house and website menus clearly identify the veg options with a V for Vegetarian and with VV for Vegan. Six non-egg dishes labeled V for Vegetarian can be modified to be fully Vegan. The three dishes labeled VV for Vegan are Hash Brown (potatoes), Thai Green Curry, and Tofu Scramble. Among the added protein options, Tofu, grilled not fried, can be added to any dish, and daily soups and daily specials sometimes are identified as Vegan right in their names. For a solidly nutritious meal, I recommend the Thai Green Curry of sauteed veggies over rice. If you have a hearty appetite, add the Tofu. My sweetheart especially enjoys the Tofu Scramble, which comes with Hash Brown shaped into a potato pancake. While I'm a teetotaler, she is a coffee connoisseur who savors this coffee house's coffee, for which she orders nut milks at no surcharge. An exception for downtown, WSCH has its own parking lot, and ample street parking on, as you'd guess, Washington Street. With two entire walls of plate glass, indoors is bright. And spacious. Sturdy picnic tables beckon outdoors year-round for rustic folks. The atmosphere is iconic coffee house, meaning everyone, staff included, is relaxed while sometimes animated, and always friendly. As Right Path never quite became an internet café, in other words a hangout, I often wondered where younger folks went to socialize or to do their online office work. They all must have been coming here. ”
“ Recently revisited Washington Street Cafe with my partner recently. The iced latte was delicious and the breakfast burrito was good too, but we weren't big fans of the cold Italian sandwich. Vibe inside is cute and quiet with people working on laptops or in notebooks. Decent amount of seating but I've seen it fully packed certain times of day. ”
“ The coffee was darn good. There was plenty of seating available both inside and out. The place is spacious. The food looked tasty. I deduct one star because the Asian woman, late twenties or early thirties, behind the counter was waaaaaaay too snooty to be working in a neighborhood coffee shop. She was curt to me, the person in front of me, and I overheard the table next to me discussing her demeanor too. Bad day? Perhaps, but be a pro and leave it at home. Otherwise a really nice spot. ”
“ Super cute coffee shop that was near our hotel. I'm glad we found it and didn't end up at a chain. The iced honey lavender latte was so good! Service was very fast despite a steady stream of customers. ”
“ My latte and lox bagel were both really good. The lox comes with onion which, may be "normal" I guess but I've never had that before. Fresh bagel, lots of cream cheese, delicious salmon. Creamy latte. Typical pricing. The place is cozy inside. Took me a couple times around the block to find parking - maybe the locals have a secret? That was okay. I made the effort after driving in from my Airbnb in Waterford. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 is because customer service at the counter seemed to be lacking. I stood there for several minutes waiting on someone to take my order. Then I thought maybe I was in the wrong place - I moved to the right. There WAS a woman behind the counter; she just never acknowledged me. Two other customers came in (they knew the barista) and placed an order. I followed them. Turns out I had been at the correct place all alone, I was simply being ignored. Obviously that changed my experience entirely. "Good morning" "Can I help you" "Let me know when you're ready to order" - - I mean something - - would have been nice. ”
“ This coffee place is very cool in the inside. Plants, artwork, and good vibes all around. I got a lox bagel and a honey maple cold brew. Bagel was good, lots of cream cheese and good amount of salmon. The coffee was amazing. It's sweet, but not to overly sweet. It paired well with the bagel. the total meal was about $17. Very cool spot! I would come back. 7.6/10 ”
